Supaguard

Hi,

I bought a Corolla last year and had it treated with Supaguard. I'm not to impressed with the Supaguard (yes dirt washes off easily but it doesn't seem to have the same shine as wax). Can i wax over it (Autoglym) or do i have to have the coating removed first?

Rick.... I had a car treated with this same product and I can tell you that it is a 'rip off'!

A year or so later I spoke to an independent car valeter who said that he could do the same job at about 30% of what I was charged by the main dealer.... Supaguard is not worth it!!!

Don't worry about having the stuff on your car and just treat it in the normal way. I found that just about any polish can go over Supaguard. But should you want to strip the stuff away as much as possible then I suggest you wash your car with a strong solution of warm water and Fairy washing up liquid. Please make sure you rinse the car properly as almost all washing up liquids are full of salt :(

Good luck and lets see that car shine B)

Dont strip it off first!

supaguard is nothing more than a very high quality sealant wax/polish. Any coating of it that you have left will only add to your paints protection.

Yes its a total rip off, but if you play it canny, you will see it can be bought on eBay for around £6 a time.

I would recommend any Meguairs products for your car - they are superb for the price.

Just to chime in, depending on how long it has been on there and how often you wash it, the chances are there isnt much of it left anyway.

Get the paint prepped again and apply a better sealant. Something like CG Jetseal 109 or something from the Zaino range.

I bought a new hyundai coupe in 06 and had the supaguard put on. I got it cheaper with the dealer as i told him that my ex was a car dealer and i know how much (or how little) it actually costs. I got a great deal.

They charge around £200 for it and i got the kit on a different occasion for £30 for my 2nd car due to knowing someone in the trade. They told me that they rely on things like this and the GAP insurance to bump up their earnings.

Going back to the supaguard. I wouldn't bother with it again. The hyundai coupe was black and a right pain to wash compared to the black ford we had at the same time that we'd had from new and didn't supaguard.
