Snapped Stud - Front Driver Side Wheel

Yup - fitted my new wheels today. Devo. Snapped a stud. I'm sure there was a fault with the nut...

I'm taking the car to the Toyota garage on Monday to try to get it sorted. Does anyone have an idea how much it will cost me? Will all 4 studs need to be replaced, or just the one that broke? I can't say for sure, but when I was changing the wheel it felt like all 4 studs were locked/located on a plate. Is this an assembly that will need to be replaced, or just the snapped stud?

Also - I've seena spoiler by a company called Bomz for $49. Pretty cheap and looks quite cool. Anyone have any experince of Bomz?

Take the wheel off and feel in behind the hub where the back of the stud will be, you are looking to see if there is enough room to get a stud in and out (taking into account the length of the new stud) you may find that if you spin the hub that there is one place where there is room.

If there is room, then get a hammer and a punch and knock the stud into the hub.. it should only be held in place by a spline, once it's out put the new stud into the hole as far as you can and then put a nut on it and tighten it up, as it tightens it should pull the stud tight into the spline... remove the nut, put the wheel on, job done... and for only the cost of a new stud.

If here isn't room, the whole assembly will need to come off or stripped bare to get access.

You should be able to do it without a major strip down, if you rotate the offending stud to the front and knock it out there should be enough room to put the new one back, drift it in and draw it up with the wheel nut. Torque up to manufacturers specifications and check tightness at regular intervals.

Back of splined stud near section clear enough for removal/replacement
