I have to replace all the locks and ECU in my XT3 as the keys are lost. Can anyone who has done this job advise me if any special tools are required and if there are any hints. Does the ignition barrel and steering lockcome off easily? Many thanks for taking time to consider this.

normally the ign barrel will come out with the ket in and on acc by pressing a the small peg in a hole just behine the front of the barrel but now key you will have to drill the peg daul in abit to remove from steering lock housing

I'd go and ask the Police if they can help by suggesting a local ned/car thief to help you - might cost you a few pints but they'll do it in under 46 seconds !!

Hi there, this is really helpful thanks and could be a lifesaver! Could you help me a little bit on exactly where this hole is that I will have to drill out as I do not have the keys. Kind regards, Colin

Colin

Hope it went well, as you can see from my post elsewhere here I just had keys stolen and had to have everything replaced/reprogrammed. It took more than one visit to local Toyota agent to reprogramme it - ended up going on holiday with a Rav4 that you had to lock each door individually, which was a bit of a flashback to the past
