Key Number / 'TVS IIIB Alarm' / LSD Differential

1) Where can I get the key number from?

I phoned the Toyota Dealer who supplied the car and they had no details of the key number on their system.

My first RAV 4.1 1996 had a five digit number written in the service book which was stated to be the key number,

but none of the numbers on the passenger door lock tallied with this there was a 4 digit number stamped on the barrel which bore no resemblance to the service book number and the barrel was the original!

2) My RAV4 has the toyota tvss IIIB alarm system, the instruction book states it has ultrasonics, but I cannot see the units,

in my 4.1 1996 MAX there were sender & receiver units mounted on the screen pillars, but there aren't any visible on the 1998 4.1,

I set the alarm and sat in the car when I move slightly the alarm goes off so there must be units somewhere?

3) Does anyone know what the individual dip switches do on the toyota tvss IIIB unit?

4) Limited slip diff, can you tell by chassis number if your RAV4 has the limited slip rear diff?

Key - dunno - ask Parts-King??

I've found the 4.1 seems to have different systems for some reason - my 2 1994 RAVs have different systems!

The DIP switches alter things like the immobiliser switching itself on automatically in a chosen timescale amongst other things I think

the manual gearbox models have the manual Centre Diff Lock Button

But it was the rear differential I wanted to find out if that was the limited slip type :)

1) Where I can get the KEY NUMBER from on a RAV4.1

I think I have been able to answer my own question here

a) My first RAV 4.1 1996 had a five digit number written in the SERVICE BOOK which was stated to be the key number.

b) A small SILVER TAG on the key ring which had the 5 digit key number.

c) I phoned the Toyota Dealer who supplied the car and they had no details of the key number on their system.

However my current RAV4.1 1998 had none of these

d) My friendly local Toyota Dealer Westlands of Bromsgrove confirmed that I should find the

5 digit key number only on the DRIVER'S door lock barrel.

I took the barrel out of the DRIVER'S door lock and there it was the 5 digit code stamped onto the barrel.
