Electric Windows

I brought a 1995 Rav4 2.0 at the weekend for very reasonable price - reason for this is that the electric windows are not working. The previous owner could not advise how to fix the problem and did not have a user manual to give us. Without sounding like a complete idiot is there any one out there who can tell me where the fuses are for the elcetric windows - is it in the fuse box under the steering wheel? If its not the fuse how can I check for other faults? Perhaps it could be the wiring?

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Hi and welcome to the forum

sorry I'm in a bit of a rush just now - sons birthday and I have to drop off the bus for a valet..++++

funny both windows not working. dya know theres a cut off switch on the drivers door panel to switch off the windows?

Other than that, according to a quick look at the HAYNES MANUAL, THERES circuit breakers in the fuse/relay box in the engine compartment - I'd imagine the window motors will be controlled via relays; and a fuse.

Theres more fuses in behind a cover on the left of the passenger footwell...and more in below the steering wheel I think - need to check later.

The engine fuasebox should be marked with what it covers.

back later

a quick look again indicates that there is a power fuse and power relay in the fuse box on the drivers side, behind the sloping plastic cover

Each motor has a circuit breaker internally in case of jamming.

The power fuse is 30amps.
