Starting Problems

I'm having some strange trouble with my hilux, basically it picks and chooses when it wants to start. Sometimes it will just turn over and over without starting, then others it will fire up first few turns. Ive noticed that the glow plug fuse has been bypassed with copper wire and that the hilux only has 1 Battery, but two Battery trays. Does it require another Battery and does anyone have any details on how to hook it up correctly, any help appreciated, thankyou.

I would think that it needs two batteries, but all depends on what the previous owner has done, they fit two small batteries to get a higher cranking amps, so maybe they fitted one large one instead.

Sounds like the glow plug fuse has blown and they couldn't get another fuse, maybe you have duff plugs as well, so would advise that you download the engine and chassis manuals from here. http://forums.bauchan.org/portal/viewdownl...dcid=17&p=2
