Handbrake Adjustment

Hi,

I am looking to adjust a handbrake on a Petrol XT4 4.2 which has I believe rear drum brakes inside the disc hub. I have read somewhere that I need to check the drum brake pad clearance, before I take up slack at the handbrake under the center console.

Does anyone know how/where to check/adjust this clearance and what it should be

Seems to get slack very easily. I was charged £25 at a standard service t have it adjusted-claimed it took an hour to do it but they would only charge in for 1/2 hr. I pointed out that when I had owned other brands , handbrake adjustment was considered part of the deal. Got it knocked off but I don't know if it was try on
