Tyre Pressures? Can Anyone Advise?

Hello again people, it's me again asking questions, thanks for your patience.

Anyway, I have a 53 plate, Mark II Avensis D4D T Spirit, 5dr Hatchback, it has 17" alloys on and dunlop tyres I do believe, can anyone advise what the best tyre pressure is for better economy and handling.

My friend claims it's around 26psi, but I think that might be kinda low, I have an electric meter and I'm gonna check the pressures tomorrow when I change the fiddly 'locking' valves (the ones with a little screw in the side, very fiddly) for some new 'anti-theft spinning' ones I've bought, these seem better and I thought I'd pump the tyres to the correct pressure while I'm at it!

Thanks again for your kind advice.

Oh, and can anyone recommend some nice, good quality car mats and where to get them from, I just lost out on a sligtly used genuine Toyota ones on e-bay by 50p earlier, I wasn't happy.

Thanks again, sorry for rambling! lol

26 sounds low; I'd expect the value to be 30 ish.

Are the recommended pressures not listed on a sticker in the glove compartment, door jam, fuel filler flap, or in your manual perhaps.

If you can find the Toyota figures, you'll probably find they're not far off optimum.

2.2 D4-D 16" alloys. Recommended 35psi or 39psi (high speed/heavy load). Accidentally ran around at 30psi for several weeks after new tyres were fitted, fuel economy was atrocious (42-45mpg). Back to 35psi now and back to 49-52mpg.

Recommended pressures are on the B pillar inside the driver's door.

The recommended pressure on the door frame sticker for my 17" wheels is 35 psi but the car came with the pressures at 30. Putting them up is OK but it does have a hard ride penalty and with 17" wheels it is quite noticeable.

I got some from Needed4 on eBay. £14 plus ridiculous £9 postage, but total price reasonable, and the mats are fine.

Hi,

Thanks to everybody for your advice, I appreciate it, I have now found my tyre pressure sticker, on the drivers door frame as advised. My tyres need to be 35psi, or 39psi if over 160kg carried. I will check and correct tomorrow when I fit the new anti-theft, spinning dust caps I have aquired.

I will look on eBay at the mats recommended, thank you. I kinda wanted the genuine Toyota ones with the Avensis logo on, but the only set on e-bay I lost by 50p with 3seconds left! boo hoo! And all the others I've sen don't have holes to attach to the floor with the built in pegs! They're very expensive from a dealership though, almost £50, they do a cheaper set for £27, I may try them! I'll check e-bay again first!

Again, thanks for all your advise and patience.

If I could now just figure out how to remove the rear wiper blade!!??
