I will be putting the CTS in for it's first service shortly! i was just wondering what type of oil people are using in theirs?

A high quality fully synthetic or standard?

Your opinions please!

TIA

I remember asking this a couple of months ago.

You can use either semi- or fully synthetic. Some dealers will use fully synthetic for the service but maybe independent garages will use the cheaper semi.

I recently did a oil change with Mobil 1 ESP fully synthetic it depends if you really want it to be full or semi.

The fully synthetic stuff is quite expensive! In Halfrauds its like £10-15 a litre but theres a guy on eBay who sells two 4 litre cans for about £50+ which works about £6-7 a litre.

Thats the other post that may help.

i have use motul 300 and Mobil 1 i find no matter which expensive brands of oil i use every few months it need 1-2 litre's top up depend how hard you drive it,i dont know what it is with the 2zz-ge but oil seens to evapurate and i have accepted the fact that is how is going to be with this engine.

there is a way round this dont use the lift at all the oil seen to stay around.

I'm going to use Millers XSS 10w40 Semi Synthetic on my T-Sport and change it every 5k.

Both Toyota dealers I spoke to recommend 10w40 in the 2zzge rather than 5w30...

It says in the Handbook you can use both so i suppose it doesnt really matter.

5 litres for £20.99...cracking value the sump holds 4.4 litres so theres still plenty of oil left if it needs topped up!

I think mine had either 10w40 or 5w40 in when I first got it. Whenever I used to start it from warm it used to feel a bit strange, as if it was taking a bit of effort to start it, it would kind of stutter slightly (as if it was kind of half started) then burst into life. Always started fine but just felt a bit odd.

Since changing to 5w30 it's started exactly the same as it does from cold (cranks for a bit then bursts into life). So I think it has something to do with the new oil being thinner at normal operating temperature.
