Front Suspension Squeak/creak

Just over the last few days, I have noticed when driving over slightly rough road at a low speed, (i.e my driveway,) there is a squeak/creak from the front suspension. The car is lowered etc so it is a hard ride. I just wondered if that was a component needing greased or is it a sign of something on its way out....

Cheers guys

Hiya there mate, i was just gonna put a post on this issue aswel because It sounds like I have the same problem. It happens also wen I get in and out of the car really heavy. Its a pain in the butt cos mine sounds squeakly all the time, but when in the wet it goes

it would help to know which model as the 205 uses super stut suspension which has a hundred signs off wear or good old macpherson struts which would likely be a bush needing greased

it seems like a common problem then tommyd1983 eh!! Thanks for the info gtforbes, its a 1994 st205 3sgte etc.......

Its only happenin from the front suspension. some one was saying possibly take off the centre plastic cover on the shocks and spray silocon spray to get a fast fix to the problem... that make sense to you???

I dont think that would be the answer, mine is only coming from the front right, my model is also a 1994 wrc version. It has done about 77miles. And also with mine the suspension has been hardened.

I had my car checked and the noise was coming from the drivers side figure 8 coupling as suggested above.

its a known problem with the super strut suspension. and they are expensive for all they are. check out eBay as u can sum time pick them up on there for cheap.

if 1 is being done i wud get them all done as it wont b long til the other goes. i was told to look out for this when i was lookin for a st205 and also the rear dif mount tends to go too.

i was lucky to pick up a gt four that had just had a 1400 quid service! lol didnt do me much good as the piston cracked and i have to get a rebore now! lol but on the plus side here isnt 1 bit of knocking from the suspension! lol

Bought one from japarts on e-bay for £65 delivered- wouldnt have got much change from £120 from Fensport £92 + Vat + Carriage. Shouldn't cost too much to have fitted but I will let you know next week when it has been done. I know that the other side will probably need doing soon but first things first. I have already had a new clutch (fitted greddy racing clutch) and rear diff mount (again mentioned by led-gt4 above) this year which sounds a bit painfull on the pocket but I have had the car for 2 years without anything being spent on repairs.

These people are nearly as cheap http://www.tcbparts.co.uk/

Thanks for the info silverfaff, your a good man. As you say, let me know on this topic (if you want) how you get on with the fitting. Ill definatly try these two places out, getting my car checked out this weekend, so i should know what the problem is.

Mine has been really reliable too, only oil change etc. and a cv boot. nothing too drastic

if that dosnt sort it you may need the lower arms as well, these are more expensive but are available from TCB.

  • 2 weeks later...

Had the Figure 8 changed and a few other small jobs which cost me £85 foe labour. The other figure 8 then started to moan and groan and so I had this changed which cost me £80 for the part delivered next day from TCB and £25 to be fitted.I am hoping now that nothing else happens before next month when the mot is due. I will also have it serviced at the same time ready for a few trips - Japfest, Chatsworth Rally day etc.
