Hi everyone can anyone out there please tell me what the 2.2D4D avensis is like is there any problems with it,i am thinking about changing my 05 avensis because of all the bother i have been having with it, and i am finding myself looking at other vechicles because i just dont think toyota is the car it used to be.Saying that if i get good reviews on the 07 six speed i could be very tempted. Thanks all

I've posted impressions about the T180, which has the 2.2 engine and six-speed gearbox. The gearbox is a delight (so far, of course).

Hi there,

I have a 55 plate Avensis with the 2.2 D4D 6 Speed.

Bought it last year and can't say anything bad about it.

Economy, power, it's all there

My first Toyota and so far, so good.

I swapped a 2.0 D4D for my 07 2.2 D4D and the difference is amazing. Fuel consumption is marginally poorer but otherwise the engine is superb. Can't really fault the car at all after 12 months use.

I have had a 56 reg 2.2D t3x for about a year and a half now and don't have any complaints. I bought the Avensis mainly because theyre supposed to be reliable and so far all is OK. The ride is comfortable and I think it's quiet for a Diesel.

I replaced my 2004 (04) t3x 2.0D a year ago with a 56 plate T3x 2.0D tourer. It was a demonstrator with 700 miles on the clock. Fuel consumption, and performance better than the old car as is the ride quality and noise. Overall very happy with the car after one year. Insurance and road tax less expensive as well. I had considered the 2.2 T3x tourer at the same time but there were none available when I was looking.

I've done 6K in mine since new last august, and very pleased with it. I don't drive it hard, but plenty of power joining motorways etc. quiet enough once moving, comfortable, feels solid and safe. Only concern I have is a slow warm up - 9 miles/20 minutes to norm on a frosty morning but not sure if this is a fault or not. Replacement thermostat has made no difference.

I considered the Accord, but felt the Avensis better value and the hatch more useful.

Nothing wrong with that!

d4ds are very efficent engines.. and warm up really slowly ;)

Me too. I just presumed bigger engine, longer warm-up (and it takes longer to cool down, too).
