Electric System

ok well firstly does anyone in the forum have a nice complex ice system in his/her yaris?

got a couple questions on what the standard electrical system can take on. For example, anyone know what the standerd alternator runs at? I'm basically running quite a bit of power off it already, in fact when the bass hits hard, my lights do dim a bit, just noticeable. I've also got some neons running off it but these dont take up much at all.

Now the hard part, i'm lookin into settin up a ps2 and screen. Can the standard electrical system take this? Has anyone done this? I beleive steve ratcliffe had a few screens installed... maybe u can enlghten me.

cheers for the help.

as you hear the b-line, you use up some current in the Battery, the ECU detects this and has to do somthing about it otherwize the car will not have enough power and the car will cut out(stall). So the ECU tells the engine to rev up a bit, (you can notice this on the cockpit as you switch on the AC), which then spins the alternator bit faster to charge the Battery. The reason why the lights dim is because there is a small delay with the feedback(thats normal), to fix the prob you need a 1F Power capacitor approx 60-80 quid, I think it goes across the sub or accros the amp, you will need to ask someone else about this and I think it also gives you better sond quality.

You can run many thing on the Battery, just make sure you dont overload the battery(the battery tell you how many amp/hr) and the engine has to be running

ive got a very complex system!

4 amps

tv's

PS2

two batterys (inc. split charger)

two power caps

std alternator does alright but i cant help worrying its under a bit of strain by now so im in the process of putting an upgrade in the near future early next year

thinkin of usin a 'nator of a big v6 exec car which should kick out plenty of juice

its quite odd how the connect up to be honest you can either put them before the entire system on the main power line from the Battery or put them in the individula power lines for the amps.

ive done the latter with one cap for each of my bass amps connected directly in the lines

both input and output +ve feeds got to the +ve terminal on the cap

the-ve is purely there to earth it

it doesnt connect in series over the two terminals

a drawing will describe it better than words

LEFT TERMINAL IS +VE - RIGHT IS -VE
