Hello Newbie With A Question

Hello everyone,

Just thought I would jump in and say hi, Ive just ordered an Auris 2.0 D4D T3 for collection next week.

Its a 2007(57) plate, 3 doors in Decuma Grey with 8 miles on the clock (pre-reg).

I paid £11995, which I thought was an excellent price!

At that price I had to make a quick decision - trading in my 2007 1.9 Diesel Fiat Sedici.

The Fiat was O.K, but was depreciating horrendously every minute of the day! I thought I would cut my losses and buy a bit of quality with Toyota - although Im a bit concerned about all of the rattles reported on this forum!!

A few questions for those of you in the know....

1. Which light is the normal headlight? Is it the big side part of the lamp or the little round projector lamp? (if you see what I mean).

2. Anyone converted to xenon bulbs? Is it worth doing?

3. Whats the 3 door like to live with? We normally buy a 5 door, but this car was such a good deal, we took the 3. Our kids are pretty much grown up and dont like to go in the car with us, so I doubt the rear seats will be used much!!

4. What kind of mpg can I expect? The car will mostly spend its life sat between 50-75mph, with very little town driving.

I will post pictures once the car arrives,

Thank you in advance for any answers...

Regards

Andy

Hi and welcome to the forum

1. Hum hard to say I will leave this one to the experts

2. xenon is always nice to see and I guess will improve the illumination but I don't have them in mine

3. I have a 3 door and nothing to complain about it. People can go into the back normally. The sliding system of the seats seems to be a bit old but does the job.

4. Well I will leave this to our UK users because I'm in portugal so consumption is measured in a different way.

The only 2 problems you can expect are the rattles and the squicky brakes other then that no more problems. Brakes can be easily fixed about the dashboard can take a while I will go for the 3rd try shortly I hope they have some sort of fix in the database now so that is fixed for good.

The round elipsoid are the dipped beams.

The large one is the main beams.

xenon costs a lot.

Better just to upgrade the bulbs as I have done.

I've put Osram +90 Nighteaters in the dipped beam, Halfords +50s in the main beams and LEDs in the side lights.

Excellent results all round.

Oh finally, one other thought - anyone fitted side rubbing strips? I believe they can be ordered colour coded according to the brochure, but NO IDEA how much they are. Im thinking not cheap, but who knows!

Hi, Im getting 52-54mpg on a 100 mile round trip daily half of it on M1 and I never go above an indicated 80mph the rest are good a roads with a speed of 45-55mph.

Thanks again.

My current car, a 1.9 (120hp) Fiat Sedici diesel does around 40mpg, mainly down to the weight of the 4wd system I suppose.

Anyone know the price of the side rubbing strips for the 3 door? Im looking to invest as Im dreading a "ping" from a car park incident! :o

Answer your Q 4.

My engine is same 2 litre diesel like your self BUT I have never got more that 50 mpg on dual carriage way/motorway motoring. The engine has done 17,000 miles and so has some running in.... I cruise 70 - 80 mph in 6th gear.

Well,

She was collected today. A week ahead of schedule. Unfortunately, my wife collected the car from the dealers in Aberdeen BUT IM IN LONDON!! I wont get to drive her until Friday night when my wife picks me up from the airport.

Shes (the wife) been on the phone 3 times today to tell me how smooth and easy the car is to drive and she loves it.

Cheers love - I cant even remember what the car looks like!!! :P

Andy

OH, and by the way.....the side rubbing strips were £59.99 delivered UNPAINTED.
