Starter Noise When Starting 1.6 Avensis From Cold

Hello All ,

Today morning when I started my T reg avensis (87k) , the starter seemed to be still running even after the engine had started off. And i think that since the starter is actually working, the engine gets cut off even if it started - probably because the starter is rolling over faster than the engine's startup speed.. Any ideas what could be going wrong?

The car is gone for cam belt change and a long service to a local garage. I had to compulsorily tell the man to change the water pump.

Any feedback will be appreciated.

Cheers,

G.

hi mate

the idea is very simple --- it is necessary to take off the starter, and grease all bearings + joints that enables the pinion to be engaged smoothly and fastly.

Hello Igor,

Thanks for the info . Are you sure that the lack of grease is the problem and not the switch itself?

Cheers,

G.

Today the mechanic changed the cam belt. The first cam belt was still on at 87k( the stupid seller actually convinced me not to change it)...I was really disappointed. The water pump was changed as well. they cleaned the engine bay yesterday . Today when they started it from cold , there was no noise at all from the starter . Any pointers?

Its a sticky solonide..

grease wont fix it..

Dont worry about it.

Thanks guys for the info.

The starter does not have trouble since the service.

Guess I will have to wait patiently for it to showup ...once it does I am gonna check if knocking the solenoid is of any help...

Cheers Guys,

G.
