T180 + Shell V-power Diesel

I used to always fill up with this fuel but since the price hike over the winter i stopped as i told myself 114p for diesel was OTT.

Well i thought the other day, how silly i was to quibble over an extra 3 to 5quid so i've started using it again.

Anyway - cut to the chase... It revs higher on V-Power! I took it up the rev range in 2nd and normally by 4k RPM you can feel the power dropping after this point. On V-Power the power felt available up to 4.5k RPM. I was surprised; i had to double take on the rev counter.

It is also quieter and on my T180 in 3rd around town, at a certain pedal angle / RPM you get a brief diesel clatter. On V-power this is hardlty noticeable.

On the move pickup is also better and making progress is easier as power seems to last longer.

Try it and see - i've been using normal Shell extra diesel from end of nov 07 until now and to me these 3 things are not night and day but noticeable.

I buy V-power because of its better cleaning properties / additives to keep the engine healthier and lubricated / fuel cleaner. The things mentioned above are just a bonus.

I think if I went for that I would like to see a few more mpg. Let us know how you get on with the fuel economy.

I would urge you to try BP ultimate Diesel aswell. I have noticed the difference in power, pick-up, MPG and smoke.

Shell does not supply V-Power up here but BP does it's Ultimate. Might try it over the summer months when the roads are better to appreciate.

It could be that ECU needs to adjust to a new fuel. I am not sure about diesel but for petrol few octanes doesn't make such difference.
