Engine Noise

Hi Everybody,

I have just bought a lovely 2003 example of a Tsport but the engine noise is mad when you get to 75mph+. I've seen this reported on reviews but have seen no answers to quietening it down. Toyota have never heard of any problems, surprise surprise, just wondering if anyone has here and if you found an answer.

Cheers.

Welcome B)

Theres a lot of engine noise between 4 and 5rpm and the car seems to cruise at this level. Best thing to do with be to probably get a quieter car, unless your willing to soundproof the engine bay.

Yeah, i'm considering going to a few ICE places in leicester to see if they still do the sound proofing materials for the engine bay

Short of stripping all the wheel arch trims and spraying on loads of underseal including the bulkhead and replacing all the bits again I can't see it working or being viable, but let us know what you come up with. You're right - a great car but the noise is too much for constant motorway driving! The TTE exhaust adds to the woe a little, but still worth having for those windows down moments on lift! :D

If you find a solution, let us know!!

It's the only thing I don't like about my car. :(

I remember reading something about it being exhaust resonance and it was quietened with a new exhaust on the facelift. Dunno how true that is though...

I would say the best way to quieten things down is to remove the key from the ignition.

Couldn't resist that.

Cheers. :yahoo:
