Getting A 04 T Spirit 1.6 On Friday

Hello all,

I am picking up a 04 plate T Spirit 1.6 on Friday. Just wondering if anyone had any majors issues to look out for. I know Toyotas are reliable however just checking.

Also is the radio/cd player give out any decent sounds? I was thinking of maybe changing it but I see that it is customed made for Toyota. Has anyone change theirs?

well i got a toyota t spirit but 02 model and the Speakers are quite good as standard don't think you would need 2 change them, all i needed was a little bit more bass so i added a subwoofer :D

A great car so hope you enjoy owning it. Can't think of any major issues. The only things I can think of - which aren't major - are:

1. some cars have a gap appear between the dash and the top of the radio. Usually this isn't a problem but if the gap is particularly wide there is a Toyota fix I believe (involving clips I think). Mine has been fine;

2. It being a T-Spirit you may well have cloth upholstery. There was a problem with some T-Spirits with this upholstery where, when you open the door in wet weather, rain drips onto the front seat squabs and leaves a white stain. This was because there was a batch of upholstery produced that had too much fire retardant on it. Again, in extreme cases there is a fix from Toyota involving changing the seat covers (I did have this done). But it is in a limited number of cases and your car may not have had this problem at all given the plate.

3. Some cars' alloy wheels suffer from surface bubbling so you may want to check those. Yet again, Toyota have, I believe, replaced loads under warranty.

Sorry, not meaning to put you off - it really is a great car and I love mine to bits :D These are just a few relatively minor issues that sprang to mind ;)

Haven't done anything to the factory fitted radio/stereo in mine which I think is very good - but then I'm not into modding at all and don't actually like the thump thump from cars with ridiculously loud sound systems which I think are somewhat anti social - which probably means I am a grumpy old man :P
