my new avensis multifunction display reads everything in liters and kilometers and wont let me change back to MPG which i can understand. my 2007 honda civic allowed me to do this easily but the menu on the display seems to be locked out. any ideas??.

the Avensis is an Irish car so the display is correct for this country its just that i find the MPG easier to understand than liters/100km.

You should be able to toggle through the settings via the Ent switch on the display to revert back to MPG - at least that's what I can do on my 55 Plate T3.

My car has the multifunction display built into the speedo not the center console on the dashboard and the only keys that seem to work with it are on the right hand side of the steering wheel.

On my 2007 Avensis T2, with the car stationary if you press the the button on the right hand side of the steering wheel and scroll through there is a set up menu. Once this wording is displayed press and hold button. A new menu opens, press the button until units is highlighted. Press and hold button again this opens another menu. Press button again until mph/mpg is highlighted, press and hold until beep is heard. Unit should now read mph/mpg. you will then need to highlight Exit and press and hold key to return to main menu.

Hope this helps.

the only option i get is to change the time on the clock. the menu item called units which should let me change to mpg is missing. i presume it is locked out in regions which use Km an liters. i will go back to the dealer and see if he can unlock it.

I have a 2006 Avensis T2. press the ENT knob in the middle of the middle console once, the units flash "km", turn the knob to change it to "m"
