Problem With My Main Beam Making My Engine Stop

I have a 2000 Corolla SR with a problem.

If I switch on the main beam or flash the main beam or turn the front foglights on while accelerating, or use the indicators while braking, the engine cuts out momentarily which is quite worrying.

Has anyone else experienced this, is it a common problem?

Before I start to pull things apart does any one have any ideas, any advice will be greatly appreciated.

No unfortunately I brought the car privately, and the fault was not apparent when I brought it.

I will have a good look around the car this weekend and see if I can find the fault. If not its off to the garage.
