I need to change the front pads on the Aygo i havent got down and looked at them yet but are just as straight forward to change as other cars?

any tips would be much appreciated, Toyota dealer told me they needed changing and it would cost £100 but screw that just for brake pads.

Thanks Matty..

Looks straightforward.

Remove caliper

remove lid off brake reservoir

Push Pistons back in

Fit new pads

Replace lid on reservoir

pump pedal until hard

I usually put new fluid in at the same time.

I'm not a technical person but do you need specific brake pads for an aygo or are they the same for any car <-- bit stupid i know, but you know what i mean :D

Brake pads vary in design/size/fitting for most cars. It is possible for instance that a Yaris may (or may not) share the same type of pads as an Aygo. My Ford transit pads, designed to stop the van from 100mph with an all up weight of over 3.5 tonnes, are much bigger than an Aygos, designed to stop an all up weight of less than one tonne

As regards which ones to buy, there are plenty of "copy" parts around, for the most part they are adequate, indeed sometimes as good as OEM pads, but make sure you buy a reputable make, you pays your money & makes your choice :D

i wouldn't be surprised if the pads were off a citroen C2 cos alot of the parts seem to come from them.

Thanks for all the replies found some half decent ones for £30 a pair so will be ordering soon.

They probably are, manufacturers will always look for ways of cutting costs (particularly on the Aygo), so if they can take an already in production braking system, rather than designing & building from scratch, with the increase costs of tooling up, they will,.I noticed a Skoda I recently drove had a considerably large number of shared parts with quite high spec Audis & all spec Seats.
