Thank you both for your detailed replies. I really appreciate you taking the time and putting in the effort to explain this problem to me. When I tried to send this thank you as a follow up, I ended up sending your own answers back. Oh well I'lm not very computer literate either.

Any way, I think I have a better handle on the subject now. I understand that the 4-wheel drive system works a little like a center differential transferring torque like the rear-end of a rear wheel drive car. And the 4-wheel lock is like the low lock in the old Quadratrack transfer cases of full-time 4-wheel drive systems.

I don't have time at the moment to read all the details of the replies you sent and the thread from Jan 3 2008; but I will later. Thank you both so much again.
