1.4 Vvti Advice Needed

Hi. My V reg 1.6 Toyota Corolla has just been written off and I need some advice about updating. I've been out of the loop about Toyota developments as the car was so reliable that I never wanted to get rid of it. I have seen a 2000 reg 1.4 VVTi advertised and after reading worrying reports of VVTi oil loss require some advice. Does the oil loss only affect 1.6 VVTi engines or has it been reported as affecting 1.4 VVTis? Is there anything else I should look out for? Any advice is appreciated.

i have had 2 1.4vvti's had no problems with either! i even hit a tree head on at 60mph and didnt have a scratch!! they are good cars!! no oil leaks as yet!!!

1.4 is good enough, just slight not enough torque when starting from stops. and the other problem is that you have to check your engine oil level, it seemed to be used up quite quick.
