Toyota Yaris 1.0 Idle Engine Clatter

Mine is on an 02 with 30k. Had to use it in an emergency tonight on 190 mile drive. Pretty much no stop motorway and B roads. Didn't drive above 75mph. Arrived at desitination and noticed when the motor settled to a tickover there was a horrible clatter, similar to my old tappety mx-6. Fine when off idle but noise comes back on idle. Too dark to see anything now but I didn't notive anything untoward during the journey it was driving very nicely. Any ideas? I hope I'm not going to be stranded!

I've looked at it this morning and have isolated the noise to a valve on the air box, i think it's a purge valve, when I disconnect it the engine is nice and quiet. Anybody experienced this issue? I'm thinking of just changin the valve.

mine has a rattle when ideling, think its the timing chain?

worth checking the purge valve. Mine stops rattling as soon as the connector is pulled off the valve. Must be a common fault.

Have you managed to change the valve - I think I have the same problem, can you buy the valves
