I was adding the following news article and always wondered what Toyota were thinking placing a portable sat nav system like this

http://www.toyotaownersclub.com/news/publi...NG_RECIPE.shtml

I see the radio is integrated. Does this mean I have to remove the portable system every time i get out of the car in fear of it being stolen?

Looks like a nice car.....................I agree about the Radio/Sat Nav removal, although the unit would only be any use in another Yaris with the same installation.

I think that it's a great idea you can take it out of your car. And then say use it in your mates car. I'm guessing that while it's in the yaris it charges it's self up so that it's portable to use in another car.

But once the charge is flat you will have to place back into yaris / lappy again to charge ;) You'll have to remember to take it out at night as it will be just to tempting for the car thief

You would anyway, integrated or not. You wouldn't leave a TomTom on show, and this saves the window suction and wire issue.

What a great idea:

Nice. I just bought the "old" SR diesel. Seems that this new one is based on the T3 raher than the T-Spirit, so no keyless entry and no climate control. Nicer looking alloy wheels though.

This is a major leap forward for TomTom. To break into the world’s biggest car manufacturer is a big deal. It also suggest to me that Toyota may be looking at having modifications for their other models in the future if this takes off.

I also see Toyota downgrading their own sat nav systems as it’s probably cheaper to modify the radio fascia for each model than to pursue the technology and the cost required that TomTom specialise in.

People will probably pay for the radio/surrond upgrade to fit their sat navs than buy Toyotas own, I would

How many people do you know that have a Toyota sat nav compared to a TomTom?

The team that pulled off that deal must be laughing all the way to the bank!
