Twin Exhaust On T180 And Torque

Recommended Posts

Posted

I believe the twin exhaust you can get actually has 2 back boxes which is different from the compressor setup.

I would like to get these twin exhausts but would they reduce torque?

Ideally i would like to fit them when the chip comes out to take it to 205bhp. But in the meantime what effect would 2x bigger pipes have on torque. I dont want to loose my lovely torque ;)

Any ideas?

Don't know, but one thing to consider is how much more weight that extra exhaust is adding when compared with standard exhaust and chip mod, i.e. is the extra exhaust with a chip giving you enough power to overide the additional weight?

Of topic but I'm so angry I'll say it now - some tw*t opened their green beetle door with a stupid bug number plate on me while at the supermarket and have scuffed my passenger door. I was in an end space parked over with no wind today - I f**k**g hate people who have no respect for property. I'm hoping I can just t-cut the mark, w**k**s!

Calmed down - very slight dent less than a pen top size and tiny scratch after t-cut and polish....

doesnt having bigger bores in the pipe increase torque? i got a custom made exhaust and the middle pipe and it increased my torque only slightly but noticable...

was told that getting the CAT changed will increase in bhp and torque... the auris CAT converter is restricting power so you may have a good mpg but also you have restricting power..

bigger pipe from turbo exausht to 1 or diffrent back box = turbo spool quicker... more torq

In a na car, bigger pipes from exahust header.. and multiple exhausts have a negative effect.

I am far from an expert on these matters but from what I know there does not seem to be anywhere near the performance boost you get in upgrading a petrol and lets not for get the T180 is already very heavy. The car may however sound much nicer. I think it is important to get expert advice from someone who knows how exhaust systems work, I have a bad gut feeling that it could decrease performance. Same goes for Induction Kits I think.

Removing th diesel particulate filter (I think is the thing that looks like a CAT) will increase the smoke and not something I would do. There is loads of smoke in the morning when I am de-icing the car car?

Can we not tune our turbo to work harder and quicker without re-map? I know you could with a 306 DTurbo.

Just been looking at the Toyota marketing notes to see what it says......Nothing I' afraid!

The twin pipe IS two back boxes, it weighs nearly 16KG and must have a new rear skirt fitted at the same time as per this picture. It takes 0.5 hours to fit

Your car looks very nice on the myspaces msn thing

The twins looks good too! I assume you have not noticed loss in torque or power?

Also where did you get that silver Badge under the toyota Badge on the left. It looks nice :)
