Xtr Oil Consumption

Hi,

Done 9000 miles in my Xtr D4D and just had the low oil warning come up, checked dipstick and it is on minimum, is this normal. I do alot of short journeys as I am a Home Carer.

Have you not checked the dipstick oil level in 9000 miles?? The engine will only just be run in at 9000 and may use a bit more oil during the "bedding in" process

You would also probably use a bit more oil with all the short journeys, as the engine would not get up to proper operating temperature and may suffer from a bit more wear as a result.

Just to add to RYs comments;

We have had lots of similar reports during the bedding in process. Typically it will settle down - mine uses hardly any now 11k (sorry I reported it as 13k the other day in another thread).

However, be sure to check it more frequently until you establish the consumption.
