just took delivery of my T180 in cadmium green on a 56 plate with 5k on the clock . salesman said he would give it a full valet & service .

returned home with it all happy to find oil leaking from underneath ,checked dipstick oil level way past full level.

took T180 back service staff was not realy bothered said they get a moron to have a look ,the rubber seal was squashed on the oil filter but the oil level is still past the full level.

there was no apologies or anything.

will having to much oil in damage the engine ?

There are some much better mechanically informed people on here than me, so you'd do better to wait for their reply, but for now here's my 2p worth.

Personally, I'd wouldn't run around with the oil above the max. IMHO, it probably increases the likely-hood of oil seals etc failing.

I might be teaching my Granny to suck eggs, apologies if I am, but make sure the car is reasonably level and stood for some minutes before checking the level. Does sound like they overfilled it when they did the so called "service".

Not particularly healthy, but good you found it quickly.

I'd write to them officially pointing out the mistake they made and holding them responsible for any ensuing fault that may occur in the future. Registered post/special delivery. If they are that bad at servicing a car, what else could they have done??
