I picked up my CTS last night and enjoyed a quick hoon around town enjoying the feeling of lift before deciding I really ought to go home and behave!

Had a proper big grin on my face when I got in!

cheers all for clearing up the term 'lift' for me! to be honest i went to the dealers in search of a modest 4 door corolla as i'd heard about their reliability but their look didn't immediately appeal so when the dealer suggested a test drive in the only T sport in the showroom-an 02 silver model( i'd previously never heard of the T sport before as i was looking for a celica or yaris) i was well impressed by the performance of the car-but concerned about running costs so i test drove the yaris the same morning -no comparison! i bought the t sport but have since only taken it into town for the school run and work where the speed limit is 50 mph! i havent taken it on motorway yet and so when we head of to lake district later in year i will take the car to the 'lift' and find out what i been missing! thanks again for your friendly replies -ifeel abit of a ****** for not having known about this term as i've only ever owned escort 1100's in the past so it's quite a step up in power for me! regards, ardbrand

If you have any good road near by should just give it a blast in second, just to see for yourself, they nearly hit 60 in second before it bounces off the limiter so you wont be breaking the law if its a 60 limit,i think you will be surprised by what the car can do when it hits 6200rpm, just once the temp is in the middle thou, you dont want to do any damage!! If you ever give it to it in first be careful when you let the clutch back up(you prob know this) cause can give a kind of thud sound if you just dump it,you know that kind of thing isnt good for it, especially the clutches in these, they're not great to begin with

I am also a lift Junkie

I had my first lift in 2004 in a 5 door TS, I sold the car 18 months later and ended up with a verso, then a Corolla SR then back to an 05 TS, I missed it so much had to buy another and have been enjoying lift ever since.

I drive a 1.3 escort all week (old banger run around) wife drives TS so when I do get in it it is lift at every oportunity.

If I was you I would get engine warm, find a nice quite straight road and hit lift in second. Just be careful when cornering though especially in damp untill you get used to the engine as it is easy to spin wheels in second when you hit lift.

It's been a week since I experianced lift for the last time and I've forgotten what it feels like already! The 'kick' from the 90bhp yaris diesel is not quite the same..... :g:
