A question for you guys,

If an aftermarket manufacturer were to make and market a similar bar to the genuine Toyota accessory Front Bar similar to this one, http://www.toyota.co.uk/cgi-bin/toyota/bv/...&id=HIL_acc

and it were to be sold at around £150 plus vat, would it be a popular accessory for Hilux owners, depending on the styling of course.

Genuine Toyota part is over £250 plus vat.

Link doesn't work......

Not sure what a styling bar is.. but I'd love a decent functional bull bar or winch bumper ;)

I cant see the link but for £150 it would have to be something special.

They look utterly rubbish to me... one of those soft plastic things that massage pedestirans.

I'm after a proper winch bumper, that actually protects the truck....

I think you will find that those things are completely illegal since May 07, and anyone caught selling them could face up to a year in jail and or a 20 grand fine. There is more information on www.frontalprotectionsystems.eu

many dealers have already stopped selling them. I heard that there was a consultation recently on the next phase of pedestrian protection legislation, not just for bull bars but for the base vehicle as well, which is supposed to be introduced by may this year.

But with a '97 truck that had metal bull bars/bumper from the factory I am fine :)

I am of the belief that if a pedestrian wants to inspect the underside of a hilux while its driving, Bull bar or not, they are in a whole world of trouble.

What is next, cars so safe that pedestrians don't bother looking before they step out into roads? All they'll get is a bruise, a graze and a compo settlement.
