My reversing sensor has decided to scream at me continuously rather than just beep (when in reverse!). Any ideas of how to fix or is it a trip to Mr T

The sensors might be overreacting to the plume of exhaust gases with condensation in it.

That's what mine did, untill I got so fed up with them that I snipped the power wire off...

I don't see the need in Parking Sensors unless you are REALLY bad at parking and/or you have lots of tight places to park. I park my car and then realise that there is a hell of a lot more space aound the front and rear of the car than i though

I fitted the sensors to help me avoid the sleeping policemen at

the end of the parking spaces in a couple of garages I park in.

I usually reverse into the spaces resulting in a couple

of scrapes on the lower bit of the bumper...

Normally I have no trouble at all reversing and since I've

disconected the sensors I've made it a habit to choose

another set of slots to park in...

I've seen some people parking WITH parking sensors (once a 107) they ended up very squint, i was sooooooo tempted to take a picture but the woman was looking at me with lazers. She tried to get in a space that was big enough for a range rover for about 20 mins, which ended up with her scrapin her wheel trims, one kerb up on the pavement, and the nose pointing out on the road, even though there was about 2 meters in front and behind her. Was funny :)

I know, I'm sorry I should not laugh at other peoples misfortunes :( I'm baaaaaaaad!!!!

Hi, I get the same screaming sensors - sometimes its fine (usually when I take the Car to the dealers) at other times I get a continuous tone when engaging reverse. It has been happening since new (2 years) and I'm fed up with being fobbed off by the dealer - did you manage to resolve the problem with Toyota? Thanks R

Most probably either dirt or water collected on the actual sensor part (small rubber ring inside the plastic surround)

Try giving them a good clean out and see if any difference - i use the compressed air line at work - work fine after that.

If this doesnt help then there may well be a fault with one of the sensors - if you put car in reverse (engine not running) and goto back of car and touch the centre of each sensor you should be able to feel each sensor pulsing slightly (this means it is working fine) if no pulse then most likely faulty sensor.

If kit fitted port of entry or by dealership then you will have a warranty on them and will be changed no probs.

Mart :)

Problem sorted. Got water ingress into boot so went to see Mr T about that. He told me the wiring was wrongly routed to the sensors and a seal was missing. Sinc3e repaired there has been no water and no continuous scream from the sensors. Check your spare wheel well for water!!!!!!
