Gen7 Key Reprogramming...

I had some advice about reprogramming a new key for my Gen7 from the guys at TOC!. The instructions seem to work OK up until a point, but I'm still having trouble and wondered if anyone has any advice?

I bought a new blank key (without the remote fob) and a used key (already cut) with a working fob. As I haven't had my blank key cut yet, I've been swapping the fob bits in and out of the original key to do the reprogramming procedure. I've managed to programme the new key so that it now locks and unlocks the doors OK, but I can't get it to start the engine. The instructions on TOC! say...

Simultaneously depress and then release BRAKE & ACCELERATOR Pedal 1 time

Insert existing master key into ignition and switch to ON

Within 15 secs depress & release ACCELERATOR pedal 5 times (take your time)

Within 20 secs depress & release BRAKE pedal 6 times (again take your time)

Remove Key Within 10 secs insert new key into ignition and switch to ON

Within 10 sces depress and release ACELERATOR pedal 1 time

After 60-80 secs Security light will stop flashing, and new key is registered

Take out key and depress and release BRAKE peadal 1 time Key should now start car

Well the security light doesn't stop flashing. I counted to a hundred, but it still kept flashing away. I tried taking out the key and pressing the brake anyway, but it still doesn't start the car.

Has anyone had this procedure working and got a replacement fob working with their immobiliser or am I just p!55ing in the wind here?

Thanks - Sid

My face lift takes a CR 1616, I wouldn't have thought a pre face lift is any different.

This method worked fine for me - 2000 Gen 7 Celica , UK model. I am struggling with the getting the buttons on the alarm to work using a difference method but I suspect the transponder may not be the correct one for my alarm.

It work first time for me but I have heard it can be tricky on the timing and takes several attempts for some peoples cars. Either way its the correct way to do it.

cheers
