just been quoted £189.74 by Toyota in Milton Keynes for the second (20K) service.

Isn't this a bit steep?

What are people paying?

Benfield in Wakefield charge £188.04 so it sounds about right. Still expensive for what you get.

You should try Fiat service charges. I paid over £350 for a second service on my wife's car! :ffs:

I paid £250 for my Second service and had 10K on the clock ... My jaw dropped when they told me ... hope my 3rd one costs a little less this year

Have you noticed how they have big windows at show rooms...............so they can see you coming.

I also phoned for a quote and got told £187. Once Is topped laughing I asked what was included.

For that you get brake fluid and oil/filter. I suppose they wave a torch at it underneath as well and give it a ride on a ramp.

I asked about engine flush and that's £30 extra..........they did say they'd clean the back brakes............. WOW.......that will save me 10 minutes :P

You'd get the same service at an independant for less than half I think, and it does not invalidate the warrenty, as much as they'd like you to believe otherwise.

I, for one, will be using an independent garage when my services are due - if you have a local garage with a good reputation, the chances are they will be more experienced, better qualified and half the cost.

Being honest, would a book of stamps from a well respected local garage actually give your car any less of a value when you come to sell? I doubt it.

After my 3 years is up, I hope there's a nice Haynes manual available so I can do most of the maintenance myself. After all, I chose an Aygo primarily to save money!

Looks astronomical - was there something extra being done there (was always determined to avoid Fiats)?

Nothing special. Oil, filter, air/pollen filters, brake fluid, multi point check of whole vehicle and petrol treatment for injectors.

At 60K or (5 years) the cam belt and rollers need doing at a cost of over £400!!!!!!!! I THINK NOT Mr. Fiat! ;)

I recently had to put a complete exhaust system on (from down pipe rearwards). Fiat wanted a few shillings less than £500..........Britania tyres wanted £111 with a 2 year guarantee. No contest!

Fiat = Fink I'm A Tw*t? (with my money) Not any more! For sale: 1 Fiat Stilo........

I have just had a thought about my service quote of £189. It's nearly 2 years old and should have the brake fluid changed. I wonder if that is extra?

I almost bought the Brother in Laws Audi S3 off of him but when I looked up how much it would cost for its cambelt (car was 75k miles) I walked away...

£750

I was quite tempted to get an an MX-3 V6, but I'm told it's £800 for a cam belt, and due to their age, most of them are due for their second change now.

It's almost impossible to find one at a decent price that doesn't need its belt changing.

One my service plan runs out, don't expect me to be running to toyota for my service I can get an indepedant garage my service done for 60 quid or less. Toyotas prices are steep !!!

Quickly reaching its 2nd service. Beleive me I'll get it cheap. I rang around 6 Mazda garages for both my previous MX5's services and had them reduced by c.50%

I paid £129 for my 20k service at the Toyota garage in Chester.

Does it work out cheaper to pay for the service pack when you buy the car then. At leats that why you will not have any nasty surprises when it comes to service time and once it is outside the 3 year window then you're better off taking it to an indepedent and get it done for a fraction of the cost.

i was told it would be about £150 for the 2nd year service....

ive got 2 years to worry about that...but when it comes round and they try charging me and extra £80 for a wiper blade & some brake fluid I'll be telling em to f*ck off! Melicious did u not say anything to them :S

they tell you todays prices but in 2 years the cost will have went up

service plans worth lookin at they charge you todays prices and let u pay intrest free if you want to on monthly basis, if u plan to keep the car for next 30000 miles they are worth considering. only thing to watch is they dont over inflate the cost of the plan in total

I paid around £368 for my 3 year service plan, and they offered it on interest free credit too!

I took up the offer as it is inflation proof and an easy way of financing the cost, as little as it is!

Aimee, brake fluid is part of normal servicing on all cars so should be included in the price, however with regard to Wiper Blades and other consumables like tyres, brake pads, exhausts etc,, your service centre should contact you (or have discussed it before hand) if there are to be additional costs to your service.

exactly why id tell em to get stuffed... ;)

i was offered a service plan when i purchased my platinum, the guy said he'd post me a copy out and if i wanted it id call him to let him know... 3 months on & nothing :S lol

Posted

I've been quoted about £343 for the service plan, so £10.71 per month i think.. when i collect the car tomorrow i'm going to go for that :D It sounds like a good deal...

Posted

I have also taken out the service plan mine cost £383 (must go by where you live?) - works out less than £12 a month over 3 years - int. free. They told me this also includes the MOT in year 3 - have you been told this too?

I was a little reluctanct to take this out at first, thought it was just another dealer rip off. However, it seems to compare pretty well to some of the prices being charged for the one off services.

2nd service free, (along with 1st one), all part of deal done when I bought the car. They wouldn't run to the 3rd one, due to the MOT being due. But I fully expect that to sail through, just a 10k service to pay for.

Is it too late now for you to get the service plan?

It might be worthwhile trying. Make them feel bad by saying you were waiting to receive the details & are very keen to take it out.
