to be honest, if my car keeps having this fault then im taking it back and asking for a new one. I dont expect to pay £8k for a car and it ***** water everywhere... just not on 2bh!

my old ka cost me nothing, 5 years old and not one leak!

I think it’s amazing that modern cars still leak water. I don’t know if it’s down to the workmanship or the design. I had an old Escort that leaked in the boot and it was never cured, the boot floor rotted and it was always steaming up.

It's just a simple leak- the seals aren't well implemented. There's a thread on here where Toyota have fixed the problem and if you take your Aygo in they'll fit the revised seal under warranty- job done :)

I thought I had a leak, but it was just me driving through river-like puddles a bit frisky

I think sometimes people forget we're talking about a bottom-of-the-line, cheap car. Corners are bound to be cut and also it's a first-gen so wrinkles are bound to show.

OK, certain models aren't cheap- I personally think the "special" coloured editions are a rip-off and anyone who plumps for one is paying over the odds- but this is a bargain-basement city car. Cheap and cheerful motoring, a few flaws may not exactly be expected but you can't expect epic build quality for an online starting price of £6500. You want Audi-levels of design, buy an Audi ;)

(Note: this isn't a dig at anyone in particular, of even this thread, but I just wanted to give my tuppence worth. I've had problems with my Aygo- a wet boot and a whining engine- yet to be resolved- but I just wanted to give my perspective :) )

Good luck if you have to go down that route, but I wouldn't hold your breath about convincing Toyota that you need a new car over such a minor problem (their undoubted view, not mine!) ;)

How about paying £14,500 for a car and it leaks for the 3 years you own it.

Mercedes refused to replace my Smart Roadster as they kept apparently 'fixing' the leaks, only for them to reappear a short time later. Many Roadsters, mine included were eventually stripped back to the basic chassis tub and every rubber seal replaced and every welded seam filled with sealant, inside and out. This operation took the dealer over a week to do and is one of the reasons why the Roadster nearly bankrupt Smart. This solution was never issued as an official recall, but left for the customer to insist on having it done, if they happened to know about it in the first place, and then it was only reluctantly agreed to my Mercedes . Anyway, 2 months after this alleged 100% fix, my car continued to leak, along with many other owners cars.

I could tell some real horror stories about my Smart car, but as this is an Aygo thread I will refrain from boring you all any futher! :D

mm, not really bottom end... my ka was the bog standard black bumper n wind up window job... the person who bought it probs got it for about £5k brand new in 2002... and not one leak ever! even if the bodywork was rusting slightly!

as for corners being cut... surely if toyota had put a lil more effort in the seals in the first place this wouldnt be happening, and im thinking the *new* seals would already be on my car as i got it the end of Jan ?

god knows.... lets hope this gets sorted and i grow to like the car!

Question is when did it roll off the production line? Mine was reg 04/07 but found subsequently it was built 03/06!! I've had the new mod door seals fitted and the modifications to the bumper vents (done by the garage when they realised its manufacture date....!) to find that the water was getting in via a split pvc lining inside the passenger door! Seems like all fixed now..its been snowed on since and I'm in Cornwall. Just be firm but considerate and I'm sure the garage will sort it for you.
