Unichip

I would appreciate some feedback...

I have just installed the unichip on my MR2 GT Turbo and although I have experience gain in all aspects of the car, I have noticed that when I reach 180km + the car is 'missing', 'loosing power' or 'knocking'.

Has this happened to anyone? IF yes, what was the fault?

Your car sounds like it has the 112mph restrictor still in from Japan (not fitted on all cars)... or if you got above that before I'd go back to the guys that fitted the chip. The Dastek chip is supposed to de-limit the car if it previously had a delimiter. I guess if it was limited before they are not obliged to delimit the car... probably worth giving them a shout and see what they say.

When did you have the chip fitted? What did the car top out at before? Did they use a base map? Has your car got other mods? Was it set up on a rolling road? What speed did they take it to after fitting the chip?

Jimlad had the unichip fitted... he may see this and comment.

I assume the testing has been done on private roads as driving at that speed isn't condoned on an open forum... ;)

Have you just bought it and fitted it yourself? If so you will have to take it to a specialist and have it mapped / setup etc.

I would speak to the person who mapped it for you mate.

I had nothing but good times when I had my unichip fitted.

Is it only happening when you hit that speed? I would say some sort of limiter is kicking in.

Thanks for your feedback. The Unichip was fitted by an authorised installer about 3 weeks ago. The car doesn't have any mods as yet. In fact when I felt the car 'knocking' I changed the spark plugs and installed NGK platinium as i thought the old ones wheren't as effective, however it was all in vain.

In fact I called the installer today and he informed me that the delimiter was not removed. I will take the car back in a few days and see how it will perform after the re-programming.

If it is due to the 'delimiter', i'm glad however if this is not the case:

Can it be - sediment in the fuel tank? or maybe the injectors need a clean?
