Water Collecting In Rear Passenger Footwell

Following a period of heavy rain, I am finding the carpet in the rear passenger footwells, of my Carina E, are wet, often to the point of standing water being present. Initially this only occurred on the drivers side, and after some careful work with a watering can, I found the plastic sheeting within the rear door was ripped and letting water in. However I'm puzzled that I am still getting the problem... evidently I didn't diagnose it correctly!

Any suggestions greatly appreciated. I have also checked the sunroof, which seems to be intact, and the boot hatch seals. Also my Carina does not have A/C, which I have heard can cause problems.
