Could be a number of things mate. Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst. That way if it is very bad news, you've got yourself ready for it. If it's minor, then it'll be a pleasant surprise.

How was the car beofre the light came on?

On my old Celica the Engine Management meant a very bad thing, so it'd just say hope for the best.

Good luck, let us know how it goes.

Did you try disconnecting the -ve for ~5 mins and see if it came back again? that might be worth a try, perhaps it was just unhappy at being off the road for a while? I have had the same problem, my post is near the top right now so you could follow that advice too?

Had this problem about a year ago. When they checked it over I was told the error code was for too much air in the fuel mix, (or something like that, can't remember exactly). They reset it and it was fine for a couple months before it appeared again, but the car still drove perfectly. Anyway had a bit of a prang so the Battery was disconnected while it was being repaired and the light hasn't come back on since.

Apparently some models have a slight fault with the filler cap. Sometimes with mine there is a huge amount of air pressure gets released when I go to fill up. I've heard some people say they've drilled a small 2mm hole through the filler cap to stop the air pressure building up.

Had the same prob on mine 3 times now :crybaby:

Took it to the dealer first 2 times and they said it was the oxygen sensor, they reset it, and it was fine for about 4-5 months then cames on again. I have ordered a OBDII this time so as to turn it out myself and see the error codes.

Hopefully it is the lambda sensor again and nothing worse, have noticed it was low on oil and only topped it up a few days before the light came on.
