Coolant Loss

I just replaced my head gasket. I had it cleaned and checked for straightness. I followed all torque sequences, and torque specs. I'm loosing coolant. Theres water in my oil. Cream under my filler cap. What else could it be? :( I even used new tty head bolts. $80. Man, I hope I don't have to redo this. I'll have to toss the bolts again. I'm desperate, any ideas? I can redo the job in a weekend. Should I use spray copper on the gasket? Any ideas appreciated. Thanx.

Are those the same symptoms you had before you changed the HG? On removing the head were there obvious signs of HG failure?

What I'm wondering is whether the original HG had in fact failed, and whether perhaps the problem is something else e.g. cracked block which obviously you won't fix by replacing the HG yet again.

Sorry, no other ideas on what you might do to diagnose this further, but good luck with it.

I replaced the hg because I fried a valve. It had a pencil size hole in it. No problems with coolant prior.

Did you get the head pressure tested while it was off?

No. I guess I'm gonna take it off this weekend. Not a bad idea. The machine shop I took it to will do it. I never really thought about having it pressure tested. They asked even. I just assumed that since all I did was put in new valves and there wasn't a problem with coolant before I wouldn't need the test. Anybody know where to get head bolts cheaper than $80?

You should always get the head pressure tested when its off. There may well be a crack in it somewhere which is loosing your coolant.

Sorry not sure about headbolts price. All the headgaskets i do at work i use the old headbolts unless they are longer than specified then they require replacement.

Mart.
