Ae92 Rusty Rear Arches ! Help !

Hi Guys,

Owner of a AE92 'Rolla Gti here. The rust is really bad on the rear wheel arches (as these cars infamous for). Was wondering what is the best way to deal with it? I'm not too keen on fillering \ fibreglassing as the rust will continue to erode away under it all. Was looking for pattern parts or perhaps wielding, but dont know too much about that side.

Was wondering the best way to deal with it, in terms of eliminating any future problems and value !!

I believe the rust has spread down towards the side skirts as well....its not looking good :(

Sounds the same as mine when i bought it.. under the side skirt was a whole the size of my hand...!! What my painter did was grind out all the rust and then bought a rear panel and welded it into place.. looks as good as new now...

I 'think' the rear panel only cost about £20 as well... from a place in Leeds... the panel starts at the bottom where the skirt is and runs all the way along the wheel arch...

Be sure to put plenty of wax-oyl under the car once you have had it repaired......

a before and after pic for you to see...

I had 2 new rear arches welded on my GTI before the respray.

Panels will cost around £40-50, then youv got to get the old arches cut out and new ones welded in. I got mine done cheap but its usually around £150-350 depending on where you go.
