T180 Rear Twin Pipe

Hi All, was thinking about swopping the standard rear can for a twin exhaust on my t180 when i get it, have seen a few online, but wasnt until tonight, leaving work, jumped into me van, oh yeh its a toyota hiace, anyways, looked across the road, and low and behold, the first t180 i have seen with a twin pipe, now, it looked fine from the back, Chrome tails, but omg, when viewed from the side, in looked as if someone had polished up a pair of tin cans, spoilt it completely.

The rear chrome garnish must have only been about 5" long, then the exhaust carried on under the car, didnt look pretty, so if anyone is thinking of doing the same, do yah homework i would say and make sure the box has a decent length to the Chrome tails, otherwise, i wouldnt bother. Maybe Kingo might have a few leads on this. And while i am here, Kingo, can you recommend a good source for some alloys for my 2002 Hiace, cheers Gray

Hi there, I'm in Ireland and the Rav4s are slightly different to UK, but I have the twin pipes (see below) fitted with a "skirt", also have side steps and mud flaps and you can't see the pipework unless you really go looking for it through the wheelarch - which involves bending down and squinting through the wheel arch

I don't have a really good photo of the rear of my car, what with it being winter and the climate being generally "soft" (= chucking it down with rain) in Ireland, but will post one this weekend (weather permitting)

Hi Gray

I dont do many T180 exhausts, a bit pricey with the skirt you have to have with it. My pics only show a rear end view, nothing side on, so I'm in the dark really

Toyota never did any wheels for the Hiace (alloys that is) I do have contacts at wolfrace.net, so if there is anything on there you fancy, let me know, I can probably have a deal with them

Kingo

Managed to get the skirt and twin pipes (with a neat little logo on them) for €569 as part of a deal on the vehicle and a host of extras. Hard to work out the individual cost of each extra, even with an invoice, of course. Cost of the car, however, was €35900 overall - yes, we are ripped off in Ireland thanks to a little thing called VRT = vehicle registration tax which is (deep breath and reach for the smelling salts) :o 30% of the cost of the vehicle. Here's a quote from motornet.ie about VRT....

It’s not actually a tax on the cars, which would technically be illegal by EU law, but a tax on making the car legal to drive on Irish roads. This tax is known as Vehicle Registration Tax (VRT) and is payable on the first registration of a car in the State, which has to be done before it can be licensed for road tax purposes, thereby making the car legal to drive. You could buy a car and not pay this tax - but you couldn’t drive it or sell it on here, which more or less renders it useless

Only two things certain in life - death :death: and taxes :saddam: .....

depending on how keen you are, its easy to get a rear box and twin pipes made for you in stainless steel.

The full system for my RAV4 turbo was custom made and fitted for less than £500 in large bore pipe by a local specialist. I just have the 1 pipe at the rear which exits at the original point through an enlarged hole in the rear bumper. It includes a flexible section to meet the flex in the engine when racing the engine.

We were going to fit a twin outlet pipe rather like some of the MR2s, but decided against it for aesthetic reasons.

Hi mate, just tried it and its working fine. Are you at home or work ? If at work your security filters may be set high.

I get this problem myself at work sometimes. If at home, then dont know, maybe Chatman could advise.

Cheers.
