Idle

Cars being going great,

I have noticed if i get back into the car after it has been sitting at normal operating temperature, switched off and left for say (under an hour) that the idle will maybe drop from say 900rpm to 800rpm and rise a few times until it settles at 900rpm....Cold idle is perfect and it idles around 900rpm dead on any other time..

Is this the ECU taking a few seconds to adapt the change in coolant temperature???

What is your cold idle rpm? What I'm planning to do this w.end is clean the idle control valve + throttle body, i think it could be a bit sticky when the car is cold, out with the carb cleaner!!! Maybe thats what wrong with yours, could try cleaning it, see if that sorts it

I think it sits around 1,500rpm (or slightly below) until it warms up...then idles around 900rpm and doesnt move from that....Think my prob is down to the ECU adjusting to the drop in coolant temp???? it only lasts for a few seconds at most....
