Daytime Headlights

Ian in Holland

After years of driving a V*lvo, I guess I've just become lazy. I'd like to have the headlights on whenever I drive, including daytime. I live in Holland, and it's very common here - maybe 75% of cars are driven like this.

I asked the dealer if this was possible, he tells me it's not. There is the 'Auto' headlights setting whereby lights come on when it's dark, but they are off during the day.

The Avensis is also sold in the Scandinavian market, where daytime headlight use is compulsary - and there, I believe that the cars are wired such that lights are always on. That's certainly how my old V70 was.

Two possibilities;

- Can I rig the light sensor (that controls the Auto lighting setting) such that the car always thinks it's night - and do this without messing up the auto wipers?

- Better still, can the wiring be reset to "Scandinavian" standard?

Thanks,

Ian

hello Ian

Look -- we have standard regulations and switch headlights on on case of need.

Why should you recognise the wiring + spend money for photo sensor + works + sensor failure in the future etc ???

May be it is better to switch headlights on manually and safe your money :D ?

cheers/igor
