Help - Bumper Variation L Reg Corolla 5drhtch

Hi Guys,

My issue with my corolla is going on and on and on!!!!!!

I ordered the bumper and bonnet from Need a Part, they said it was coming last thursday, it didnt, the supply company said they wouldnt send it via normal delivery. So anywho I got it yesterday, Im still not sure about if the bonnet is the right one but the bumper is different, my indicators which pompey gaz kindly sent me dont !Removed! fit. The gaps are the same shape but slightly more narrow. Does anyone know about the variations of trims on this car?

Need a part said theyd send me the indicators and only charge me postage - how kind of them NOT, considering they didnt tell me the bumper would be different.

Getting really fed up, just want my car fixed now :(

If they're sending the indicators without charge then I think you should consider that a result.

Plenty of suppliers would have said it was up to you to check that the bumper was exactly the one you needed and would then have tried to charge you for the indicators on top of what you've already paid.

I see your point but how could I have checked it was the right bumper before I had it? It was wrapped up like a mummy when I got it and the delivery guy said he couldnt wait while I unpacked it.

My point is that I asked for a bumper for that model of car and they did not pre warn me that it might not be the same. And considering that the items were a week late aswell, I think they should just send them.

Yet another typical company, nice as pie before theyve got your money, once theyve got it they dont give a toss.

Anywho, moan over, back to the question. Now I have a bumper that is different to the one ive got. How do I know it will fit my car? Someone else is fitting it for me but I wanted to know if there is a way of telling, before the other one is taken off? Presumably it has a part number on it, is there some where i can double check that that part is for that model???

Part number may be on the rear (in raised letters / numbers)

But it's not going to match the one on the car of course if they're different bumpers.

If it's definitely the right bumper for an L plate Rollla with the same body style as yours then it should fit; they quite often vary the bumper between cars in the range, and sometimes as minor facelifts, but they change the metalwork much less frequently as the body panel presses are much more expensive to alter.

I think you'll probably find that it's OK, but the only way to be sure is to check it against the bodywork.

I have mentioned many a time on here that Corolla models, especially your year (ish) were a pain if you didnt have the chassis number for it at the time of ordering. Corolla liftback models (not a hatchback, the slopping liftback models) had a completely different front end, as did 3 door Corolla's that had painted and non painted bumpers.

The next time somebody says to me "There all the same mate" I will refer them to you! :D:

You MUST get 3 door hatch parts for a 3 door car

You MUST get 5 door hatch parts for a 5 door

You MUST get liftback parts for a liftback

There are one or two exceptions to the rule but stick with the above. If your bumper was painted, get a painted one as well, as the non painted was different

Failing all of the above, give me the chassis number and buy it off me ;)

Kingo

When I ordered it they didnt ask for the chassis number, obviously I am not a expert in cars, I just want mine fixed. I can only presume they assumed I knew. Anyway, Ill just have to hope the bumper fits the car and if it does - get the indicators to fit the bumper. If not, then I may have to get it from you!!! :D

The next time somebody says to me "There all the same mate" I will refer them to you! :D:

Was that addressed to me?

I said "with the same body style" i.e. your statement in an earlier thread, that they were different, was noted.

No T600 it was at Kaleyt, but I'm giving up on this thread now, the threads were supposed to be humourous and it appears they may have been taken as shirty, that wasnt the plan :D: Apologies if anyone was offended

Apologies if anyone was offended

I wasn't offended in the slightest - I was just trying to clarify as your post followed mine.

I'm sure your contributions are, as always, very welcome.
