Remote Locking

I have bought a rav 4, 5 yrs old. I am wondering about a slight glitch, sometimes it seems a bit reluctant to either lock or unlock with the key fob. when i bought it, i ordered a new key so this should have a good Battery in it but it is no different to the original key. I first noticed it when it was raining but it has happened a couple of times now and I am a bit worried I may not be able to lock/unlock it. Any hints or solutions would be welcombe.

thanks

tony

Hold the key fob to your head when you press the button. (as demonstrated by JC on Top Gear)

It doesn't make sense, but if the car's slightly out of range this works every time for me on any car I've tried it on. Also works with Garage door openers too.

This can happen, so I've read in other posts on this forum, if you are in an area with a large number of wireless devices.

Where I live there are several wireless broadband devices and some times have the same problem. I just have to try a couple more times and it will open eventually.

Yup, it uses your cranium as an antenna dish... increasing the range. The bigger your head the more range you will get (a few on here may be prime candidates for that! :)) You will of course die earlier from cancer... but its worth it eh! ;-)
