Okay, so at 1 this morning I go to pick the girlfriend up from her xmas do.

On the way there a taxi tries to run me off the road, it was windy yuk and cold.

Get up this morning and try to complete a report on tenders on which Im really struggling

Girlfriend then decides we need to go out for dinner to Mc'ds therefore mother decides I must get a shed load of shopping.

Get in the car and the clutch overnight has developed a really annoying squeak, get to the girlfriends house..... my new alloys with new tires I put on last sunday, well one of the sods has grown its-self a puncture..how crap, we then limp to mc'd's for the engine to stall twice without due course (ho hum?) on the drivethrough while the blokle behind me laughs and then has a go!!!

Roll on December 25th and loads of egg nog!!!!

I have sent a nice big letter to the people that supplied the turbos (universal turbos, I can name them now).

took the car to turbo technics where they took the turbos off and stripped them down.. they found:

-The turbos that were sold to me as NEW units, were infact old ones, rebuilt and painted to look new.

-one of them had been rebuilt with an old and knackeres piston ring, causing an oil leak into the exhaust.

-one had been rebuild incorectly, the piston ring had been jammed in too hard at a slight angly, causeing it to fail and leak even more oil into the exhaust.

While it was apart turbo technics said they might as well fix it as new piston rings are not going to cost much at all, and they have to put it back together anyway.. it was fine no smoke. I have a full written report saying WHY the car was smoking, and even have the old rings as evidence :) I can't see them worming out of this one :)

noticed the other day at high revs there was smoke.. started it up today and once again at tickover, about 4-5 seconds after starting it.. smooooooke. and its oil smoke. -just as I thought it was all going to have a happy ending!

Nick, yupm piston rings... dunno why but that what turbo technics called then (I usually called em oil control rigs) its a small black ring, that stops the oil from the journel bearings peeing into the exhaust. well, thats what its meant to do in theory.

what REALLY annoyed me was when I originally took the car back to universal turbos (the people that sold me the dodgey units), and told the guy I think its a fault on both units, thats only leaking oil into the exhaust end, hance no oil in the 'cooler he looked at me and said "listen mate I been doing this for 25 years, I say its your engine thats knackeres, after all its an old one" :ffs: :ffs: :ffs:

REALLY annoyed me the way he spoke to me.. :ffs:

if ANYONE needs to get new turbo, get a turbo problem fixed of diagnosed, I cannot reccomend strongly enough.. NOT to use these people.

Dave.. where is the puncture -some are not fixable!!! usually costs about 10-15 quid.. -I'll tell you for sure tomorrow!!! tho part of my prive will be cutting off a locking wheel nut I have no key for (only one on the car, and guess which wheels picks up a nail!!!)
