Avensis lean burn circuit

Hi all, got use of an avensis while my supe is off the road for the winter.

Anyway, when we first had the avensis (its my old mans) the economy light used to be on when cruising.. it went off once and never came back on. The car also splutters sometimes when cruising in fifth...

i'm thinking maybe the lean burn circuit has gone dodgy..

Any clues? Also, can i do the engine diagnostics myself on an avensis in the same way i can the supe?

cheers

I know this does not help but my lean burn light no longer comes on but the fuel economy remains the same. I dont know if it is the recent cold weather but my car does splutter a bit first thing in the morning. I have also noticed there is no lag anymore from the economy mode to non economy. Is this a bad thing?

ah.. if there is normally a lag going fromeconomy to no-economy then mine must be working.. as i sometimes get a 'surge' (if you can get a surge in a 1.8 avensis :) ) on accelerating from a steady run.

guess it may just be the bulb gone then.

My bulb went as well, phoned up local main dealer £5 extra as part of a service or £60 just to change it.Went for a walk while they did it during which they phoned me up and told me my steering rack had gone cost fitted £1200:o so rushed back to be asked to feel the play in the wheel, which i did,it did wobble.I THEN ASKED HIM TO TIGHTEN UP THE WHEEL NUTS:mad::mad: Strangely no more wobble and they have never seen my car again. P,s its north of hull but south of scarborough somewhere in the middle by the sea and the town begins with B,answers on a postcard please;)

aaaaghhh regarding the bulb.. what were you thinking.. £60 to change it? I bought anothe bulb for £1.20 from halfrauds and fitted it myself in five mins..

Did you not have a screwdriver handy or something?

I went for the £5 option as part of a service because i knew from previous experiance what a pain in the ***** changing bulbs in the dash can be.Didn't expect a main dealer to pull a stroke like that though.
