Just checkedhow much the tax will be on our other car and checked the standard Aygo - seems it is free? Is that true as our mmt plus is £35......anyone being charged more for the sport? My understanding was the enginesare all the same so anyone know why the tax is any different for metallic paint and different seat material if that's true?!

Road TAX is calculated in the cars C02 rating... The Aygo I believe is £35 for the year...You cant get a 6 monthly one as it's so cheap....(or clean :D :D )

This will probably rub people up the wrong way but i know of a few people who have moved out ofa big town into the country and then moan about requiring a big expensive car and needing to drive for an hour to get to the nearest town/work.

I've never worked that out...

Although an Aygo is really cheap to run, last time I drove around the countryside, my passenger felt very sick because of the bumpiness and being shaken about.

I'd be bankrupt if I had to spend over £100 a week on fuel!!

Rear tyre pressures make a huge difference to the ride comfort. The manual recommends 32psi for speeds under 100mph (but i think they mean 100kph) and 34psi over this. Speed bumps are much more jarring at the higher psi, but also much less sloppy around tight corners and when loaded with passengers at motorway speeds.

So, in 2009 it will cost me £20 to tax the car, and £15 to tax my 125cc scooter. Surely they need to drop the tax on scooters?!

No, they REALLY mean 100mph...

The sticker on my car states 160kmh as the limit, which is about 100mph...

Seems kind of stupid for a car with a rated top speed of 158kmh, I WILL give you that...

motorbike tax is annoying - around 80 quid now....not fair.

aygo's do way more than 100mph.....i reckon on a good day with the wind beind you they'd do around 107. just a guess though.

I don't know about you, but every time the taxes go up, I feel sorry for the average family car owner who is more likely to feel the pinch than the chelsea tractor owners.

Afterall, if CO2 is such so evil that it needs to be taxed hard and fast, why is it that LPG tax is so low? Maybe because that's all that is left in the north sea?

Maybe it will be fairer to tax based on factory stated urban mpg?
