Build Celica Gt-4 From Celica Gt

Ever since i have gotten my car close to a year ago i have fallen in love with it

i have never had any problems with it but now as it draws near 185k on the engine i have hopes of rebuilding it

BUT, i want it different.. i want it faster

i looked up on royaljapanesemotors.com and found a gt-4 engine for sale

they want 1600 dollars for it and 350 dollars shipping...it come with the starter, alternator, built engine, wiring harness, ecu, and 5 speed AWD transmission

thats the easy part

hard part...finding a rear axle from a 93 gt-4 that will fit the rear end of my car and being able to find new suspension parts to fit it

it almost seems like mission impossible but i am determined

to make my celica GT one of a kind :D

Good luck with that.

But isn't the GT4 boot floor raised to fit in the rear diff? I'm not certain about that, but check it out before you buy a rear axle.

GT4s aren't worth a fortune these days. I think a conversion could easily cost more than the real thing. But that shouldn't necessarily stop you if you're doing it for the love of it.

yep the rear end is totally different on the GT4. you would also need the fuel tank and lines.

there was a guy in Greece that did the conversion (welding in the GT4 rear end) but i would think the costs are pretty high. can you not import a 4 maybe cheaper

well this is my first car and it has never let me down and i love it to death

but these cars...especially this gen are nearly impossible to find in the states

and with the right information and tools and parts i should be able to make my dream come true

this celica was built in 93 through mass production so the body styles are all the same along with the brakets to allow me to build a gt-4 out of it without replacing too much stuff...there is a life all the way back from the underside for a driveshaft to squeeze in

yeah it will be a lot of money but its just something i want to do and hopefully be able to keep for a long time

im planning on starting next january

any help would be greatly appreciated i would love to hear your advice!

the rear chassis IS different on the four. not trying to put you off just make you aware that the GT4 rear subframe will not bolt straight to the GT rear chassis. keep us posted
