Hi

We are looking to buy a Colorado (about the 8k mark) but are completely new to 4x4's and LC's. We want it because we tow a Caterham, occasionally go "offroad" (rally stages, muddy fields rather than true offroading), and my other half has always wanted a 4x4. Settled on LC because of its reputation for reliability among other things.

We're hoping to go look at a few soon, and was wondering if there was a guide - common faults to look out for, when designs changed etc.

We have seen one for sale which has everything we want (auto etc.) but I think it might be a bit overpriced (51 plate, 74k miles, GX Auto)

Thanks!

Jo

Hi, I'M not sure if you have recieved any further advice, but I currently have a 1990 Automatic, Diesel (74k on the clock) , with full towing electrics that I am looking to sell in the near future if you are interested (I live in Aldershot). Looking for about £5500 if you want to view, this is a very high spec vehicle.

Should be a good choice.

Only one significant thing to watch for that I'm aware of - the automatic transmission oil coolers are sited in the engine radiator and cracks can result in engine coolant entering the transmission via the oil cooler. Be wary of any cars on eBay with a new radiator. Some people are changing their radiators at about 7 years just in case - others say that as long as you use the genuine toyota coolant it'll be fine.
