Aygo With A Mind Of Its Own.... Indicator/brake

Recommended Posts

Pulled over yesterday by the police and told that when I was indicating it was my brake light that was flashing instead of the indicator. They were as confused as myself.

Anyone have any ideas.

PS they let me off as they noticed how confused I looked....

Should be impossible..wiring connectors are meant to be idiot proof and will only fit the correct way, so power directed to the indicator light should not be able to end up powering the brake light, or any other light.

Most odd.

You seem to have bad luck with your Aygo...there was someone else about a year ago who had endless trouble, including an engine blow-up,and countless little annoying things.

Eventually she went back to a company car!

Touch wood, I have been delighted with my Aygo.I had a Maxda Mx5 previously and the Aygo is so much more fun and SOOO much cheaper to run that I am very glad I changed.

I think another trip to Mr T is required to make sure your wiring is correctly installed.

(Now that I think of it, I used to build kit cars and the lights would sometimes behave very strangely if a wiring loom earth was not fixed securely to the chassis. If you have a loose earthing point in your rear wiring harness , that could cause the problem you have.Have it checked!)

Bad earth is normally the cause of this effect, but normally found on old Ford's and French cars.............maybe a clue there then.

:D

Yep, my money's on bad earth too, which Toyota should sort under Warranty if you have the original clusters on there Vicky.

Have also heard of this happening when a bulb has blown. You could remove the stop and tail bulbs and then see what happens. If indicators then work try different bulbs.

I'm going for the bad ground-lead too...

Took it to toyota and they had a look, said it was bad Ground (they have no idea how it happened as noone has touched it).

Most strange...

Did they actually fix it (how?) or did they just say what it was and leave it at that?
