I think that depends very much on the condition of your car, its colour and the level of finish you want to achieve.

Not that I'm an expert on this, I'm just learning, but from reading posts on detailing sites, I don't think many professional detailers think much of T-Cut. I believe it's a mixture of cutting compound and polish - so neither one thing nor the other and therefore either too weak for some purposes and too strong for others.

For best results you need to use the correct grade of cutting compound to remove scratches, then a polish to, well polish, the paint followed by a wax. A clay bar (I think between cutting and polishing but don't quote me on that) is also recommended to remove surface imperfections. And for the cutting and polishing an orbital machine is desirable if you don't want the process to take days and days.

Exactly what is best for your car depends very much depends on your paintwork. If it's a metallic with a top layer of lacquer it's really important that you don't cut or polish all of this away and break through to the lower layers. So that will be a primary consideration, though even just variations between different colours can be quite significant.

I got results that I was very pleased with on Red Toyota paintwork using the Meguiars products, but they're relatively cheap compared to some other products that people swear by. But then it depends how much you want to spend.
